It’s strange what desire makes foolish people do

We ROUND 2 is starting soon! Stay tuned for the awesome stuff to be had there. I am in LOVE with one item already:

Innocuous will be presenting this awesome, freaking nice armor at the event. Finally some decent armor for girls that doesn’t look bulky like hell and makes you look like a sad version of Conan. I am in love with it. It comes with shoulders, too, which I will show in a different post. The texture is really nicely done and it is MESH! But only the shoulders come in a rigged and a non-rigged version. The whole armor is modifyable, which is awesome for fitting. Imho, rigged armor always looks a little odd. Why would gauntlets move and bend with your arm? O.o

There will also be a dirty, rugged version of this armor available as well as a dark red and a black texture. I very much like this and will kiss Circuitous’ feet for a while now I think. Honestly I even believe it fits a guy as well, since among our penis-type people there are a few rogue-ish, leather-wearing characters as well. And..it’ll come in a separate version for the guys!

Hey there!

So today’s post is about freebies/cheapies. I put two outfits together that I personally really like. However, on my journey on the search for freebies I encountered a very, very strange attitude among  many designers.

Lets start with:

What are usually the reasons to offer a gift/freebie/cheapie/luckyboard etc.?

I can think of the following ones:
1. To attract traffic (luckyboards etc.)
2. To thank your customers (groupgifts etc.)
3. To attract potential new customers.
4. To be kind to people with less money.
5. To increase the number of people in your storegroup.
6. To advertise for yourself.

What message do stores with bad gifts try to send?

So, if these are the reasons I can immediately think of, how come so many BIG stores, wellknown ones, offer crappy shit as gifts? I am aware that beggars cannot be choosers. But are your customers truly no more worth than one old, sculpted item from 2010 or even earlier? What kind of message arey ou trying to send out by offering a gift that feels like a slap in the face.

“Here, look at my shitty gift, but all my other items in the store are really awesome. Too bad you have to pay for them! I am sorry, but despite being a customer here, you are just not worth much more to us.”

I hope not. But sorry, that’s how I perceive it. If you cannot be bothered to come up with a NICE gift, better do not bother at all. I really feel like an idiot when I come to a store that offers good stuff, and their gift is some random crap. It is NOT good advertisement for your store. It makes you look like a greedy, selfish person.

How to impress?

If you want to leave a good impression, attract potential customers, if you want to appear kind and generous to people with less money – then offer GOOD gifts. Put some effort into them. I can create a leather string, put some spheres on it, tag it as a bracelets and call it a day myself. That’s no effort. Rather offer a GREAT groupgift once a year than 12 crappy gifts.

People will love you, they wil be thankful and will spread the word. There is a reason why certain stores get flooded by people once they release their annual/monthly gift, and there is a reason why some stores hardly get recognized for their gifts at all. People appreciate effort, they appreciate to be implicitely told “We like our customers a lot.”. No one tells others about that crap groupgift you offer, but once you put up something awesome, word spreads like wildfire.

Heya!

Time for more elfy stuff, wearable by humans and other kinds, too! Soedara released an awesome meshoutfit called Clan Maiden. It comes in a bunch of colours and you can wear it in many, many variations, so it is pretty damned perfect for mixing and matching. In my outfit, I feature the mainpart, which basically works like a small leatherdress of sorts.

LeLutka released new hair, a cute bob-style among them, but the other two did disappoint me a little. Imho they cannot keep up with the usually impeccable creativity Thora offers us: The updo has two strands hanging on the side of the face which looks good from the front, but looks utterly disconnected from the rest of the hair from the side. I am not sure why she did not add a couple of more strands there to cover up that odd gap, but oh well, maybe just not my taste.  The other hair is kinda okay, I got it even, until I figured it looks rather bland to be very honest.

However, complaining about LeLutka is complaining on a  VERY high level, so I am relatively sure not everybody will agree and the majority will storm there and buy everything anyways. I mean, I have pretty much her store in my inventory by now. ;D

Fantasy Faire II – DRESSES!

Hey peeps,

today I will show you a couple of dresses I picked up at the Fantasy Faire. I am not usually a fan of dresses for chicks in SL, simply because SL is flooded with dresses. That, too, is why I am so sick and tired about guys moaning and whining about how ther eis just nothing for guys. That isn’t true. Some of the BEST designers in the role-play genre create outfits for guys. In regards to mesh, it is MUCH easier to find good, quality mesh items to put together a rogue-ish outfit for guys, or an outfit that might fit for any kind of fighter, warrior or thief. Sure, as a chick you get to pick from a lot of chocies to…..1000000 dresses, silks and skirts and metal bikinis tagged as ‘armor’.

HOWEVER. I do like dresses when they are wellmade. These are wellmade. And I really do like them, besides Bilo’s Dress, none of these is a review copy, so that tells you something. I am especially impressed with Fatewear’s dress and hell, I say we should bug him to create more rp outfits!! Also, these dresses seem really good for Gor as well. ;O

Modern Elfy Times!!! :)

Hello peeps,

so, I guess I owe an explanation (or not?) as to why I am have been sooo slow with everything lately. I keep telling myself that I’ll have the time to blog more…but then I figure: NOpe, again no time. I am currently in a trainee programm for teachers and it basically eats up my time. I got my final exams in less than three weeks and well…I better not procrastinate. So until the 4th of March, I will probably not be blogging again after this post.

Today, I wanted to show you gyus an outfit I made for a casual OOC elf a s well as some of my favourite hairs that more or less recently have been released.

Here is my outfit. Forgive the not so cool picture, I tried to figure out how to get shadows to work properly. Oh well…skillfull me isn’t all that skilled yet.

Here come my six current favourite hairstyles, in no particular order:

Both Magika hairs are just flawless. I love, love their system where you can buy the whole scale of natural colours (brunette, red, black, blondes) for only 250 Lindens. The textures and meshwork is awesome, and each hair comes in three sizes. Magika has improved so, so much over the years. Imho, Sabiny Gully is currently one of the best hairmakers out there. These hairs fall in a natural manner and are really long as they reach down to the lower back. I am in love with these. Also I think her haircolours look very nice and natural, even if I picked a not so natural red right now.

The LeLutka hair is very nice as well, the soft waves giving it a very innocent look. I love the fact that you can turn the hair accessory on or off. I have to unfortunately turn it off because it clips into my elven ears. But even without it, this hair looks really nice. Her haircolours and textures are very, very good as well. I really can rarely complain, unless she is making one of her strange hairstyles again for which you’d need a bottle of hairspray to have them stay that way. But oh well, this one is awesome! It also fits me quite perfectly, even without the alpha layer.

And here comes Eaters Coma. Kumii Yoshikawa always already amazed us with her really pretty styles that she made for SIXTYNINE. The style ‘ME’ was one of the favs I’d say, and I saw so, so many chicks with it. Guess what? Now she has redone it in mesh, and while I like Burley’s remake of it as well, this one just made me SO happy. I am wearing it on the right. I do not think it is  a 100% exact replica of her old ME-style, and I wish teh bangs would be a bit lower on this one, but this is a thick, very wellmade and hot braid that goes over your boob. Truth has made a similar style, I believe it is called Froukje, but the way the braid just seems cut off at the bottom always bothered me. I love this. Eaters Coma in general makes very good mesh styles, even if not all of them are fitting my personal tastes. The style on the left is one of my current most worn styles as well. I think her textures are awesome, however I do wish she would add more colour-variety to her packages. Also, making hair, even meshhair, no mod is a bit sad. One should be abllowed to tint it a bit!

In the middle there is Exile, and I really, really do like it. Often enough, the shape of Exile’s hairs doesn’t go well with my headshape at all. In this case, I was SO hapy. Not only does it come with a bunch of cute, rigged meshflowers which you can obviously detach. The textures are nice and I really do like how it flows down over your boobs. I tinted the hair in this case. I bought the Naturals Package Exile offers and the tone ‘Sunset’ doesn’t exactly strike me as a red tone, so I tinted it a bit,  e voilà, now I am happy.

I think that is something  creators of hairs should really keep in mind: Please, please add packages with one example of each natural colour! I know Exile, Eliaktira, LeLutka and Magika do this, but I really wish others would follow as well. Make it a little more expensive than  the usual packs, that justs eems fair. But nothing is worse than having to buy tons and tons of hairs in a new colour, just because youc hanged your colour after years. I know what I am talking about.
