We <3 Role-Play – PART II

Heya peeps,

so We Love Role-Play finally started and damn, I know I am patting my own shoulder here, but I love the stuff many creators came up with, so I will be blogging it over the next couple of days. The past three days have been crazy busy, had a couple of interviews (for jobs) in rl, so I didn’t really have the time to blog.

The following outfits contain some of my favourite items from the event:

Innocuous’ awesome armor,which I already praised before. Gspot released two dresses which are really super pretty imho. I combined the dress with parts of the dress offered by Arwen’s Creations, mostly jewelry. Arwen outdid herself for this event again, this time she did an Egypt inspired outfit.

The Plastik, as said before, has created crazy many items for the event, I can only recommend having a peek at the content of the outfit. It comes with SO many things!

Elvenbreath offers a cute outfit that can be used for any kind of woodelf/gorean/barbarian outfit and is part mesh, part sculpt. The tiara in the second picture is offered by Bliensen + MaiTai and is SO perfect for elves. I love it!

Also, Nina Helix of Alchemy/Birdy has released an exclusive tone of her Demonskins for the event, which come with ears, teeth, horns (which I wear in the second picture). Illusions comes up with a super pretty sword which comes in three different colours, silver, black and gold. I think it is perfect for certain kinds of characters! So is the staff offered by Bites & Claw, which is very nice for any shamanic character imho.

Heya!

So, as I already said, World Goth Fair started. There is PLENTY of neat stuff to choose from. Two of my favourite pieces are the little bolero offered back at the FF already and now again Lassitude & Ennui and these awesome dresses by Bilo called Salome. They come in a wide array of colours many of those more than perfectly fitting for role-play, also for Gor.

Another creator who has a stall at the World Goth Fair, but isn’t yet featured in this post, is Senzafine. Check them out! Their stuff is nice, especially the stuff they have at their mainstore for the not so gothly people. Don’t forget to check out The Muses‘ stall either! Very pretty dress to get there.

Mesh and system layers??

Many people loathe system layers ever since mesh was introduced. I think that is pretty damned naive tbh. They are -awesome- still for layering and for creating unique outfits. One of my largest petpeeves with mesh dresses is the fact that it is incredibly hard to mix and match them with just about everything else. I already blogged about House of Fox’ awesome meshdress, and now Bilo did the same!! I LOVE it! The skirt is mesh, combined with a system layer. Perfect in size and you can combine it like crazy! I really hope more creators will start doing this.

Jewelry and Hair!

Bliensen & Maitai is a store that completely fell off my radar for reasons I cannot quite fathom. They got super creative (mesh-) jewelry and accessories. Pretty sure I will shop there some more and we also got the creator, Plurabelle, in for the We Love Role-Play Event. I really like this necklace a lot. And Eaters Coma…..yay! Finally I can tint the hair. My biggest beef with them was always that their red tones are everything…but not red. Not even ginger. Just a very odd tone. But now I am happy and this new hair is pretty!

New League skin is out!

League finally released their newest Aria Skin and it is really something new! It only comes in three dark skintones, so all of you girls who love to play darker skinned avis, this skin is for you. The lips are really juicy, however I am really sad there are no lighter skintones, and I am not 100% sure, but it looks to me as if the face is slightly crooked looking on purpose? I have to test it yet, just judging by the pics I saw. Seems to be the newest Cool thing to do, but I’d really prefer if the creators would leave if it up to me to make my face look crooked. :/ Matter of taste, again. Overall though I am of the opinion that this new release is pretty damned nice.

It’s better to burn out than to fade away

I have never been a big fan of the store called Sweet Lies because I always thought their items and store looked pretty meh. The store still does, but Hadarah has released some really, really nice dresses, and they only cost 150-199 Lindens. :O The textures seem really welldone from what I can tell and even though they are templates, she used them in a creative way. I am pleasantly surprised by that! Yay!

Fantasy Faire Part III – Awesome stuff…and not so awesome, ripped stuff.

Heya!

So, I have been browsing the Fantasy Faire since about 6 days or so like crazy. There is LOTS of good stuff to be had there and also, most sims really look awesome.

The Eyesore

Most. One sim sticks out like a sore thumb. I really wonder what the designer of that sim thought when they created it. It looks like a bunch of wooden cabins slapped onto a sim with screaming green/purple stuff inbetween and some odd chocolate fountains. I really think they could have tried to keep the sim as tasteful as the others and not looking like some weird mixture of candyland and a bucket of liquid colour toppled over. Probably a matter of taste, but well, that didn’t look like a lot of effort. Also, using obviously ripped content (now removed) to decorate your sim isn’t very cool either. You get awesome sims such as (example, it is my absolute fav!) Lumenaria created by Kayle Matzerath, and then you get ….that. Something that looks as if it’s been thrown together in two days. Matter of taste, I guess, so here I am stating mine.

Effort or no effort?

While a LOT of designers put a LOT of effort into releasing new and awesome stuff, or at least put up their best work, some designers really made me shake my head. I have seen advertisements there that displayed avatars from around 2008, and that’s quite frankly laziness, especially when so many awesome creators with far better stuff maybe could have gotten that stall. I am very aware that as an RFL event you are happy to get whatever you can, but sometimes, quality might beat quantity. However, last time I checked the notices, there were around 10.000 US Dollars raised already, so congratulations to that!!!

Content at the Faire

Talk about content. I do not quite understand why anyone would let a merchant sell sculpted copies of weapons FULLPERM for 50L at a faire of such a high profile. They even got the same textures as they have in Skyrim if I am not mistaken. That’s quite sad. I really hope they will do something about it. However, we have to keep in mind as well just HOW many creators there are. I am aware that something such as this can escape their eyes. Not everyone is a gamer as well and would recognize those. However, they have been made aware.

Ripped = Ugly in 90% of the cases

Oh, ripped content. Stop the whining, seriously. You do not have to buy ripped stuff to look cool in SL. Especially not badly ripped stuff with blurry textures, so badly rigged that you look like a skinny dude with a giant head, alpha glitches and no sizes. NO. It does not look cool. Your avi looks like an uglier version of Ezi/Geralt/Iorveth/Triss, but not cool or unique, nor high quality.

Queen of the High Forest

Hellos!

So, I have been repeatedly asked why I do not dish out a post every day currently. Two reasons:

1. I passed my final, final, final exam on monday. 11 hours of exams, essays, showlessons and oral exams after 1,5 years of traineeship. I was really damned busy.

2. I do not post every random stuff some store happens to release, especially not if it is the usual template stuff. I do use template stuff at times, but only if it is really well done. I rather go for quality than quantity. I wait until I really love an outfit and then blog it.
